Hey, I'm Jude, an explorer, filmmaker and Adventure Mentor.
I’m looking for an experienced and adventurous filmmaker to join me on a one-of-a-kind snorkelling expedition in the Red Sea this October (fallback November), for 1-2 weeks. If that sounds a bit vague, it's because this will be a world-first and I'm keeping the core, somewhat news-worthy premise under wraps until we chat 1-1.
This project will explore the profound connection between water, mindfulness, and mental well-being, capturing the emotional and physical experience of an immersive, multi-day experience at sea.
As an autistic person with ADHD, there is also scope to bring this element into the story of the film, as a large part of the motivation for this trip is to explore ways of adventuring that are stimulating but not over-stimulating, challenging but also calming, and to be a voice and role model for autistic adventurers.
The core message/story of the film has not yet been decided, and I would like to come up with this collaboratively in order to make the documentary as powerful as possible and ensure we're both aligned and fully bought-in
I'm looking for someone who can handle both filming in challenging conditions (above and below water) and post-production editing. You'll be the key creative partner in shaping a visually stunning, story-driven documentary that highlights the intersection of adventure and mental health.
Ideal Skills & Experience:
Strong cinematography skills, particularly in outdoor/adventure filmmaking
Experience with underwater filming (preferred but not essential)
Storytelling instincts to help craft an engaging documentary
Willingness to work in a remote, physically demanding environment
Post-production/editing capabilities
I have a clear, compelling plan for attracting sponsorship for this expedition, and would expect to at least cover your costs, and ideally pay you for your time. We can also discuss the possibility of raising awareness for a mental health charity and/or an ocean conservation charity. If you're interested in pushing creative and physical boundaries, let’s chat!
Please contact me at me jude at kriwald dot com with a little bit about yourself, why you're interested in partnering with me on this expedition, and links to your previous works.
A bit more about me
My current documentary, Alone Across Gola, was shown at RGS Explore and has just won its first award on the festival circuit. You can find links to my socials, as well as the trailer for that film, here. I'd also be happy to share the full film with anyone serious about considering this expedition partnership :-)
Thank you so much!
Jude
