Michele is looking for a team mate to canoe the Caledonian Way in July

I’m looking to paddle the Caledonian Canal (Great Glen Way) for a five-day canoe-tripping adventure in mid-July. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I can adjust as needed.

I have plenty of experience with canoe tripping in Canada, and while this is a Class 1 route, expect some headwinds! We’ll launch from either Fort William or Inverness, depending on the prevailing winds.

Right now, I’m sorting out the logistics for a canoe, paddles, PFD, and barrels. You are responsible for your kit and food. That said, I’d love to team up with someone who already has their own kit—it would make things much easier. A car would definitely be a bonus!

Ideally, my paddling partner will have experience with both paddling and camping. Canoe-tripping experience is a plus, but not a dealbreaker. We’ll alternate bow/stern paddling, or you can stick to bow if that’s your preference. Each night, we’ll camp at sites along the route, embracing the full adventure.

The ideal person should be fit, relatively chill (if not, they will be after five days on the water! ), and not a heavy drinker. I’d prefer to paddle with a woman, as my PhD research focuses on women in outdoor recreation—but that’s not a strict requirement.

If this sounds like your kind of adventure, let’s connect!
