I'm Nic and I wild camp most weekends as I love embracing nature and experiencing amazing sunsets and sunrises. My favourite time of day is dawn when it's so quiet and the sky showcases an array of reds and oranges in readiness for the sun rising. I'm currently on target to bag the 214 Wainwrights of the Lake District and breaking up long walks by wild camping on the fells will help ensure I meet my target of climbing them all within a year.
On #WildNightOut2018 I slept on a Wainwright called Hallin Fell above Ullswater in my bivvy bag and mother nature was kind, it was a lovely still night with just a very light breeze and I witnessed a beautiful moon-rise from the horizon shortly after sundown.
I'll experience many more wild nights out throughout the rest of 2018 and 2019 as my next challenges include climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and walking the length of New Zealand on the Te Araroa trail. You could say I'm hooked on hiking/wild camping! I hope my posts encourage others to get outside and enjoy what our British National Parks have to offer.
