I’m planning an expedition, mix of desert running and Andean ascending in the Atacama Desert, early (our) Autumn 2023. Looking for 1 or 2 people. It’s anticipated that once in the desert and mountains, this will be unsupported. I am currently scoping out logistics. Must have experience of independent and unsupported travel in highly challenging environments. I have undertaken similar solo and very small team trips in North Africa, South West Africa and the Middle East. Have climbed the Andes before. I’ll be leaving from Scotland, where someone comes from is unimportant.
It’s important that someone is both self sufficient but also a team player, happy to play an active role at the start in shaping a 2-3 week trip. If they have experience of deserts, great. Not essential. Car driver too. Generally the plan will be to drive into less accessible areas, set up camp and spend 2-4 days there, then move to another location. The meeting point will be either Santiago or Calama airport.
Timeline September-November 2023.
