Inspired by Arkady Fiedlers crossing of the African continent with an electric city car, I want to take up the challenge to master the Panamericana – the longest road on the planet – reaching from the north of Alaska across both of the Americas to Ushuaia, the southern most city of the world, with an EV.
The challenge is, to do an electric off-road road trip, roughly along the Pan-American Highway, with no designated charging infrastructure along the way in many parts. Therefore, the adventure expedition will be forced to interact with locals to recharge every day, which will enrich the cultural experience and it will show that all-electric travel is possible anywhere.
Ideally the challenge is going to be mastered with the standard versions of Rivians electric adventure vehicles. By adding roof tents or an off-road trailer, we will be able to experience the freedom of being able to go and stay anywhere, despite the electric drive.
The team for the expedition should unite the skills around videography, video editing, photography, maybe drone flight, storytelling etc. to be able to tell inspiring stories about the expedition and the locals that we meet along the way, for example while charging.
In addition to a core team that will be there for the entire journey I would like to have some other creatives joining for a few weeks, in order to enrich our creative work, as well as helping us, in building a greater reach, through their social media.
With all the videos, photos, drone shots and stories being created along the way the expedition is producing plenty of material that can be used for marketing purposes by the companies that sell the gear that we use, which enables this expedition to be (at least partly) sponsorship/partnership funded.
The adventure is planned to start in Summer/Fall 2020 with no real timescale involved. Since all of this is at a brainstorming level you are welcomed to get involved in the details.
