I am looking for trekking partners for Mount toubkal between May 9 and 17th. My plan is to fly from London to Marrakesh and then take public transport to imlil. The first night would be a stay at the refugio in imlil and the other nights more or less the same. Taking a tent is also an option but refugios only cost around 10 euros so, so it may not be worth taking tent and sleeping back. I plan to carry my own backpack and map so there would not be a need for guide and mules. Travel companies advertise this as a 3 or 5 day trip, so I think planning on about 8 days should be sufficient time to summit toubkal and possibly mgeun (spelling?). Trekking time from imlil to the base of toubkal can be anything between 5 and 8 hours per day. The climb to the summit is approximately 3.5 hours.
I am currently training for my international mountain leader, so this trip may be of interest for people who are also training for a mountain leader qualification or who have trekking, hill walking, or climbing experience. It would be great getting a group of 4 to 6 people together. If interested pls contact me via gobidesert2006@yahoo. Thanks, claudia
