Join renowned mountaineer guide Simon Yates for an incredible ascent of Alaska's Mt. Blackburn! At 4996 M (16,390'), Mt. Blackburn is the highest peak in the Wrangell Mountains of Alaska and the 5th highest peak in the United States. A heavily glaciated eroded shield volcano, Blackburn is as dramatic and massive as it is remote and beautiful. It is also one of the hallmark peaks of the majestic Wrangell-St. Elias National Park which, at over 13-million acres, is larger than the country of Switzerland. Accessing the Nabesna Glacier by ski plane, our expedition will take us up the mountain's glacier clad north ridge. A moderate climb by Alaska standards, the route offers 2800 meters of spectacular glacier travel and snow climbing along an airy alpine ridge. Most importantly, this Alaska expedition will deliver incredible solitude and limitless daylight in one of Alaska's most remote mountain ranges. 11th May 2014 - 25th May 2014 (15 days) Technical grading: Intermediate Price: 4,650 DAY 1 Join Anchorage DAY 2Fly into Nebesna Glacier - Wrangell St. Elias Range DAY 3-12Set camps and climb Mount Blackburn DAy 13 Return Base Camp DAY 14 Ski plane pickup return Anchorage DAY 15In Anchorage, trip concludes World Expeditionsis one of the worlds leading adventure travel companies offering ground breaking itineraries on every continent.
