Ken and Mark are doing this challenge to raise money for Clic Sargent, Macmillan Cancer Support and Help For Heroes. We were browsing through the Explorers Connect website one day and found this race.

We decided we needed a challenge! 23 years in the making, Greenland specialists Tangent Expeditions announce the World's first true multi discipline arctic race. 71 degrees north. 500kms inside the Arctic Circle. There is no other race like it. Period!! Bordering both the world's largest frozen fjord and the world's largest National Park, competitors will endure challenging sub zero temperatures in this most beautiful and remote region of the high arctic. Hurry Fjord, the spectacular Liverpool Land mountains, and Greenlands most remote Inuit village of Ittoqortoormiit will form the backdrop for this adventure challenge race involving Nordic ski touring, sled hauling, mountaineering, ice berg climbing, snow holing, igloo building, and an overnight camp by a hot spring!

Individual, pair and team events will test the skills and dedication of pioneer adventurers over two multi day routes with differing challenges. Located just 5 hours flying from the UK this landmark event will mark the beginning of a new era of more affordable and accessible polar challenges. Teams will be flown from Iceland to the start point at Constable Point in privately chartered aircraft, with the event culminating in a celebration evening and dinner in Europe's northernmost party capital, Reykjavik.

The event will take place over two weeks in April 2014 (dates tbc).
