A new exciting adventure is coming up this October in the Himalayas. I will be climbing Mera Peak (21,246 feet), snowboarding from the summit and then climbing Buruntse (23,390 feet), which lies in the heart of the Himalayan giants, in a more remote area of the Khumbu Region in Nepal.
Trekking through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on earth and climbing Mera Peak will allow me enough time to acclimatise in preparation for climbing Baruntse. This expedition is 34 days long. I am in the process of getting all my equipment prepared and in training. I am looking forward to testing out my brand spanking new Spot Connect, a device which turns my iPhone into a satellite phone. It will allow me to send texts up to 6500ft, update my Facebook Twitter pages and will track my progress on Google Earth.
It also has an emergency button which sends an SOS message requesting emergency assistance. Watch this space... I will write a full review of this on my return! I am very excited to be returning to Nepal, following my Skydive Everest expedition four years ago. I am raising money for two charities - Naomi House Childrens Hospice The Mount Everest Foundation for Sustainable Change in Nepal/Tibet. On October 4th, I will be giving a talk on my tales of adventures, followed by a dinner and an auction, to raise money for these worthwhile charities.
