Following a very brief window of opportune weather, Spanish climbers Xavi Arias and Xavi Aymar have summited on Broad Peak, reporting their success back via a sat-phone call on Friday afternoon.
A report and pictures from their summit experience are expected when they return home to Spain. Two further unnamed climbers also hit the summit over the weekend, and we expect details of their names to come through shortly. Yesterday Field Touring Alpine reported that three of their climbers made the top.
Meanwhile there was very sad news from Gasherbrum II, where reports state that Iranian climber Leila Esfandyari is said to have fallen to her death. Beyond that, few details are known at this stage.
