THIS EXPEDITION HAS BEEN DELAYED UNTIL 2026 (date tbc)

Join the Adventure! We (Dr Ross Piper and Dr Susannah Cass) are looking for enthusiastic teammates to join us on an exciting field expedition to the southern Amazon in March 2025. This trip offers the rare opportunity to collect specimens for the Natural History Museum using valid scientific permits and to discover some of the region’s most extraordinary wildlife.

What We’ll Be Doing:

Specimen Collection: Contribute to valuable scientific research by collecting undescribed insect species and documenting poorly known species.

Macrophotography: Capture stunning images of the rich biodiversity, including insects, mammals, birds, and herps.

Wildlife Encounters: Watch for mammals like peccaries and monkeys, and witness incredible birdlife such as Hoatzin and Giant Otters. Encounter frogs during explosive breeding events and spot elusive creatures like jaguars, pumas, and tapirs on trail cams.

Field Exploration: Hike miles of trails through both secondary and primary forests, with breath taking views over the Madre de Dios river.

PLUS: Do you have your own research objective/artistic project/creative media output planned? We are very excited to support a diverse range of projects, just let us know if you have any questions or need more information!

About the Location: We’ll be based at ACA Los Amigos Field Station, which offers stunning views, good facilities, a wealth of biodiversity, and a peaceful atmosphere. The station is in an area ripe for discovery, and you’ll be in the heart of one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
