Since starting paddleboarding last Summer I’ve had the urge to paddleboard (SUP) from Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG). To date this feat has only been managed by 2 people (Call Major & Fiona Quinn). Late last year Jordan Wylie made it within a day’s paddle of John O Groats and would have been the first man to paddleboard LEJOG but was unfortunately stopped by Scottish Coronavirus legislation.
This will be the biggest adventure I’ve undertaken, and I’d like to split the load with another team mate – somebody willing to paddle around 1200km over 2-3 continuous months. I am also willing to consider doing the trip by Pedalboard (literally a paddleboard with pedals and handbar) which would be a world first. This is to be decided with the team.
There is also a need for a support crew. The journey can be completed with either boat support or land support. The former would need a skipper and deck hand/general boat support, the latter a team of two with ability to drive. Somebody to act as a photographer/videographer would also be very handy,
I’m looking to share costs. The support crew I can provide food and transport costs, but sadly not a salary – I hope that the thrill of adventure and comraderie on such a journey will be opportunity enough.
I’m looking at May/June 2021 to get the best of the weather. I haven’t looked into sponsorship opportunities due to the time needed to curate and deliver these, so was thinking about an entirely self-funded adventure (costs split between myself and one other)
The plans are not set in stone. I’m open for discussion with a team that wants to welcome what freedom I hope we can have after lockdown and have a fantastic Summer!
