EC is helping a charity set up a mountaineering club for refugees who have experienced extreme human cruelty through human trafficking. To do this we are putting together a small team of female walk leaders to help organise and lead hikes
The time commitment is approx. 1 day per month
You must be patient, kind and a real team player. These women are strong but have been through a lot, they also have a variety of physical and psychological (mild depression/anxiety/PTSD) issues. The women are also complete hiking beginners and it is much more important that we do everything as a team offering lots of support, rather than achieving the set goal for example.
You must be a woman since some of the refugees have difficulties trusting and being around men due to the traumatic experiences in their pasts
If you can commit to working with the women over the next 12months please email enquiries@explorersconnect.com with the following information:
where you are based (in or near London preferably),
rough availability (week/weekend, months/dates you are/not in available this year)
information about your walk leading experience and qualifications
any experience working with people who have survived trauma
