I am British native living in The Czech Republic for the last 8 years. I have extensive travel experience and I have completed expeditions in Greenland, Spitsbergen, Alaska, Kamchatka, Siberia and others, the biggest being the 2013 swim crossing of the Bering Strait which I have written a book about (The Bering papers, published by Austin Macauley of London). I have a degree in geography and I am a fellow of the RGS.
I have been to Kamchatka 5 times and as such I am pretty knowledgeable about the area and I am able to arrange all manner of trips using local logistical support. last night I was talking to a friend of mine who strongly recommended me to come for an early autumn trip to view the ongoing eruption of Klychovskaya sopka. I agreed because I have been in this area before and early autumn is a stunning time period. In addition the reindeer breeders are returning from their summer pastures with their herds and it is possible to visit them after the volcano observation. The reason that I am writing to you is that in order for this to be viable I need to find 4 fellow travellers. Logistics are very complex in Kamchatka and it is necessary to travel off-road in very difficult conditions, crossing rivers, driving through rough overgrown tracks in the tundra and taiga and negotiating old lave fields. Sometimes, it is necessary to change the method of transport between jeeps, delicas, kamas or ural trucks, etc, and sometimes even boats or helicopter, although on this trip a helicopter should not be needed.
the cost should be around 1900 euro (£1620) per person for the shared logistics, cooking equipment, other special equipment, accommodation on arrival and before departure in the city,registration and permission to visit the northern part of Kamchatka and a visa invitation. Just needed then to buy air tickets. (I can help with this I know how to travel to Kamchatka from Europe in a good plane for 500euros) The dates are planned for October 16th to 28th.
