A totally unique and adventurous winter trek on the frozen Zanskar river following the traditional trading route. Described by the lonely planetas a slippery, slidey trek through mind numbingly beautiful terrain. The trek on the frozen River Zanskar,is an unforgettable journey. You will be exploring a remote area that is cut off from the outside world for over half the year and can only be visited in winter by following the old trade route along the frozen Zanskar river. One of the most interesting parts of the trek will be the insight into the cultures of Zanskar and Ladakh. Ladakh is a Tibetan enclave in high in the North of India of high desert like mountains with small villages and monasteries at their foot. One of the most beautiful places I have been to,I spent some time there summer in 2012 and the memories of the place have never left me. This is the year to the trek as sadly a road into the area is reaching completion and it will never but the remote wilderness that it has been.A knowledgeable Ladakhy friend/ guide will who runs Wild East Adventures will be building the trip. I will be leaving UK around 27th January 2016- mid February. The trek itself is about 700 pp TBC this includes transport to from the trek, food, guide, porters fee. Flights (Delhi then to Leh), insurance and warm weather gear need to be accounted for too.The trek itself it about 8 days long but extra time is required for transport, acclimatisation and if trek departure needs to be changed for any reason. I'm looking for 3 to 4 team mates who would be interested in taking part in the trip. A meet up in early January would be best to make sure we have a cohesive group.
