The Youth Endurance Network is a not-for-profit platform working to promote philanthropy, humanitarianism, education and science within Hong Kongs youth community, through challenging, yet accessible expeditions and endurance events. We have had numerous successes since our inception in 2009, most notably establishing Running to Stop the Traffik and organising Hong Kongs 24 Hour Race. We have raised over HK$3.5 million for causes combating modern-day slavery through Freedom Matters Nepal/UK, Esther Benjamins Trust, and AFESIP. We have also participated in and organised challenging, record breaking expeditions, raising funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Joshua Hellmann Foundation for Orphan Disease, Cystic Fibrosis Trust UK, and EduRelief. In the summer of 2014, we will be leading an expedition of young Hong Kongers to the remote Land of High Passes, in the far northern reaches of the Indian Himalaya. For 23 days the team will train at altitude, develop mountaineering skills, become the youngest expedition to conquer the 18,300ft Parangla Pass, as well as the 19,100ft Parangla Peak. They will march for 12 days across one of the most untouched, pristine wildernesses in the Himalayas, and challenge themselves both physically and mentally as they cross 100km in the footsteps of renowned 19th Century Tibetologist and German explorer A.H. Francke. Concurrently, the team will partake in the first glaciological investigation on the Parangla Glacier since the 1850s.The team will be drawn from all walks of life, based upon merit, needs blind, from across Hong Kongs vast youth community. We are searching for the next generations Wong How Man. We want to provide youths, who would otherwise miss out on the opportunity, the chance to take part in a pioneering expedition, to do what no other youth team has ever done, to uniquely contribute to Himalayan glaciological understanding, to meet the isolated, nomadic Ladakhis, to embark on a life-altering odyssey. We are young explorers, humanitarians, academics, environmentalists and scientists looking to infuse passion for adventure in Hong Kongs greatest resource. From 3rd Jul to 25th Jul 2014More information is herehttp://www.youthendurance.com/
