Swimming Britain

CommunityBelinda KirkComment

The Goal: To become the first person to swim the length of Britain. To give talks along the way about pushing yourself and achieving your goals. Raise loads of money for charity. Share my story on a daily basis. Make a documentary about the swim. Get people to join me on kayaks or swimming On the 1st July 2013 I will attempt to become the first person to swim the entire length of Britain. My 1000-mile route will start in Lands End and Ill work my way up the north coast of Devon and across to Wales.

After going along the West coast of Wales I will cut North to the Isle of Man and then onto Scotland. I will then make my way through and around the Hebrides before cutting East along the North coast of Scotland and finishing at John O' Groats. My swim will take 2 months and I will be swimming further than the Channel every single day while battling cold water, extreme hunger, loneliness and potential bacterial infection. Why? It was hard to think of something bigger and harder than cycling around the world. I am by no means a good swimmer and thought this challenge would certainly raise the bar for me. Its Supported This is going to be a fully supported swim with people in charge of various roles such as, route, camping, nutrition, social media, press and PR, photography and video.
