Very simply the greatest adventure on earth. This expedition has only been attempted once before... by Miles Away in 2011! Followng the pheonomal success of that expedition, some of the team will be returning to the River of Gold to guide novices and enthusiast alike in the best whitewater destination in the world. Picture sandy beaches to camp on, warm water, beautiful scenery and friendly people. Imagine surfing never ending waves and crashing through rapids one minute and then floating introspectively through incredible landscapes the next. You will learn all about how to riverboard and how to navigate rivers and rapids safely with a professional and friendly crew of adventurers. This is a one in a life time adventure that you will always carry with you. For an idea of what life on exped was like last year, watch this video.Itinerary:Day 1:Arrive in kathmandu, meet our Miles Away guide team at the airport and transfer to our guest house in Thamel.Day 2:Drive to Dolalghat, unload all the rafting/personal gear from bus and prepare for expedition. Board/raft 3 hours to CampDay 3:After a hearty breakfast, set off early to get to No Exit. We'll stop here and learn a little bit about Surfing for an hour or so. It's the first big rapid of the Sun Kosi and well worth stopping for a while to play. Continue to camp. Board/raft approx 5 hours.Day 4:Today we tackle Meat Grinder and Surf Dead Pig Wave - depending on the water levels, one of the best surfing spots on the whole river. Raft /Board approx 6 hours.Day 5:Today the rapids start to get more frequent and is a brilliant opportunity to test out all you ahve learnt over the last few days. We start the day with a class IV followed by a class III- Punch and Judy and then after lunch we have Pre-Anxiety and High Anxiety. Raft /Board6 approx hours.Day 6:Today is an exciting day as we head down towards two of the biggest rapids on the river- Hakapur II and Hakapur III. These are big technical class V and IV rapids which will need to be scouted carefully. There is an option to portage these rapids (walk around) or run them in the raft if people are not confident to riverboard these rapids. This is true of most rapids on the entire river- making the Sun Kosi the ideal river for experts and novices alike. Tonight we camp at the confluence of the Dhud Kosi (river of milk) which carries the melt waters of Mt Everest herself. Raft /Board approx 6 hours.Day 7:The rapids keep getting better and better. Today we tackle Jaws which, time permitting, is worth a second run. After lunch we'll scout and run Dead Man's Eddie which is far friendlier than the name suggests. Water level dependant, Dead Man's Eddie is home to the most consistent and friendliest big wave on the Sun Kosi. We'll surf our lunch off and head to camp. Raft /board approx 5-6 hours.Day 8:A roller coaster of a ride today starting with the himalayan sized rapid Rhino Rock (a lot of people's favourite rapid on the entire river) followed by The Jungle Corridor home to 6 big and bouncy rapids in the space of 10km. As a reward for all our hard work, we camp on waterfall beach which is every bit as beautiful as it sounds. Raft/board approx 5/6 hoursDay 9:Rest day(lay over) optional day hike to near village. Dry your kit, re-charge batteries, work on your tan, write your diary, dig out a bath. Chillax. Everything is jacuzzi-tastic today!Day 10:This is our last full day on the Sun Kosi. We only have the Big Dipper to negociate today. Plenty of time to soak in the beautufl scenery and reflect on the amazing journey. We camp at Trebeni, the confluence of the Sun Kosi, the Arun and the Tamur rivers. There are very few places in the world where three beautiful and power river merge in one place like this. Raft /board approx 5/6 hours.Day 11:In the very final hundred meters of the Sun Kosi, before it turns into the Sapta Kosi, there is a wave train for one last surf before we head down to our take out point in Chatara.
