I recently made a first ever source to sea descent of the Congo River in central Africa, from the true source in North Eastern Zambia and through the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Alone, by canoe, the 3000 mile long river took me five months to paddle. I won a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship and grant for the expedition, and was also awarded to 'Mike Jones Canoeing Award'.
The second longest river in Africa with a flow rate second only to the Amazon, I was chased, received death threats, collapsed from Malaria and had to get my machete out on a couple of occasions to prevent myself from being robbed. My award winning DVD and book are available on my website - www.canoeingthecongo.com
