A Culture of Kindness
Nahla Summers talks about cycling across America and walking the length of Britain on the kindness of strangers, encouraging donations of further acts of kindness to strangers in place of sponsorship money.
Duration: 2hrs | Location: Bristol | Price: from £5
OVERVIEW
There are very few people who might decide to cycle across America after not owning a bike in 20 years, and few people who would set off on a 500 mile walk from north to South England relying on kindness of strangers to house and feed her. However Nahla Summers is not your usual adventurer she is an accidental one.
In her funny and heartbreaking talk about why each year she takes on a seemingly impossible challenge you will not only get to understand how we can drown out limiting beliefs, but also the power of human connection, and what 10 minutes can do.
She undertakes the challenges not asking for sponsorship money which is usually for a chosen charity, instead she asks people to simple do an act of kindness for a stranger. In 2019 she raised a predicted 25,000 acts of kindness. In 2020 she has initiated the ‘1 Million Acts of Kindness’ campaign and will travel to 20 countries on an Elliptigo bike, completing 20 challenges. This talk will be just two months before she starts that endeavour.
It will likely make you laugh and cry in equal measure, a talk that is good for the soul.
